Brian O’Connor

ATE’s - Design & Sales Lead Roof Trusses & Posi Joists

Brian began his career in Timber Engineering in Aug 1989 and is still designing to this day! That’s over 30 years of experience that has seen the industry grow and develop through the Celtic tiger, contract through a recession, and rebound with renewed vigor and demand, especially in Timber Engineering products.

Brian was one of the first Roof Truss Designers in Ireland using the then Hydro-Air (renamed MiTek in 1995) Computer software to Design Roof Trusses on an IBM PC. He was passionate about the flexibility and opportunities that timber products brought to the industry and was one of the first to promote the use of Posi-Joists (Metal-Web Joists) in the Irish market. Brian was instrumental in arranging the first Fire Tests in 1997 with MiTek for the approval of the Posi-Joist in Ireland. Brian continues to influence the industry through his understanding of both Roof Truss and Posi Joist Design and has built up a wealth of knowledge. It is this knowledge that keeps bringing customers back year after year.
